BETTY FERN (KING) HUMMEL, a resident of Holiday Island, Arkansas and the mother of Rosalind Brizendine, was born February 6, 1922, in Sunnyside, Washington, a daughter of Elmer Earl and Lilly Ester (Harne) King. She departed this life Sunday, August 19, 2007, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the age of 85.

Mrs. Hummel was a member of the Holiday Island Community Church, Holiday Island Garden Club, Holiday Island Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the American Legion in Oregon.

Mrs. Hummel is survived by three children, Robert Lewis Hummel Jr. of Grants Pass, Oregon, Rosalind Brizendine of Holiday Island, Arkansas, and Theodore John Hummel of Gresham, Oregon; one sister, Loretta Orr of Bremerton, Washington; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

On March 20, 1942 Mrs. Hummel was united in marriage with Robert Lewis Hummel who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Holiday Island Community Church with Reverend Allen Thrasher officiating. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to Holiday Island Community Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com. She was buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego Co., California.

Age 77, of Marana, Arizona. Born November 8, 1932 in Monongahela, PA. Died July 29, 2010 in Marana, AZ. Historian, Town of Marana. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ora Mae Harn will be remembered by her family for her zest for life. She faced her own challenges with courage and led the way in helping others. She lived a life of faith. She worshipped at Faith Community Church and enjoyed serving the congregation coffee and refreshments between services. Ora Mae was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Gerald Harn and her sister Alice Myers. Ora Mae is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Howard and Verneda King (Tucson), her brother Kenneth King (Marana) and her sister Sarah Pavlo (Mt. Pleasant, PA). Ora Mae is also survived by her three children and their spouses, Paul and Julia Harn (Tempe), Debbie and Chuck LeRoy (Casa Grande), Nancy and Mike Bock (Marana). She leaves behind a legacy in her six grandchildren: Daniel, Michelle, Jeff, Amanda, James and Sherri and nine great-grandchildren: Asia, Alex, Christian, Dylan, Joseph, Emily, Logan, Lance and Drew. Even though the family grew, Ora Mae never forgot a birthday and there was cash in every card. Our family matriarch has also been called the "Matriarch of Marana." Ora Mae Harn will be remembered in the Town of Marana where she served at various times as Mayor, Council Member, Director of the Food Bank and Director of the Marana Health Center. Ora Mae has received many awards, honors and twice has been commended in the Congressional Record. Two viewings will be held at Marana Town Hall, 11555 W. Civic Center Drive. Friday, August 6th from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday, August 7th from 9 to 11 AM. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM at Faith Community Church at 2551 W. Orange Grove Road, Tucson with reception to follow in the church's Harrington Hall. The graveside service will be at 9 AM at Evergreen Cemetery 3015 N. Oracle Road, Tucson. Enter at the Ft. Lowell (stoplight) entrance. Ora Mae asked that remembrances be in the form of donations to Marana Heritage Conservancy, c/o Marana Town Hall, 11555 W. Civic Center Dr., Marana, AZ 85653 or Marana Health Center Foundation, 13644 Sandario Road, Marana, AZ 85653 to continue the work that was so close to her heart.
