     Bessie Nona Voorhies was born on 26 October 1936 at Niarada, Flathead Co., Montana.1,2 She was the daughter of Charles Allen Voorhies and Ireva Geoa Root. Bessie Nona Voorhies married Arthur G. Argo on 18 October 1958.2,3 Bessie Nona Voorhies died on 13 March 2025 at St. Luke Community Hospital, Ronan, Lake Co., Montana, at age 88.1,2 She was cremated.1 She graduated in 1954 at Hot Springs High School, Hot Springs, Sanders Co., Montana.2 Bessie Nona Voorhies was a Registered Nurse.2

Bessie Nona Argo
Bessie Nona Argo, of Ronan, MT, passed away March 13, 2025, at St. Luke's Community Hospital in Ronan. Bessie was born on October 26, 1936 as the only child to Allen and Ireva (Root) Voorhies, and grew up in Niarada, MT where her parents ranched and ran a general store and Post Office. She attended school in Lonepine and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1954. During her school years, she was very active in 4H and music.
Bessie attended St. Patrick's School of Nursing in Missoula, MT and became an RN. The time at St. Pat's created cherished friendships and a lifelong vocation.
Bessie married Arthur Argo in 1958 and together they ranched on Camas Prairie and raised 4 children.
Bessie worked in many facets of nursing during her career: Hospital, ER, office and home health care to name a few. In 1996, she began working for St. Luke's Long Term Care in Ronan and remained there until 2016.
As an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Polson, Bessie served in many capacities, particularly enjoying the choir.
Surviving Bessie are her four children: Julie (Russ) Heaton of Kalispell, Lisa (Mike) Dolson of Hot Springs, Greg (Zoie) Argo of Novi, MI and Cindy (Eric) Todd of Cheyenne, WY. She is also adored and survived by 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Bessie found great joy in her family and loved spending time with them.
Bessie loved gardening, needlework, music, reading and travel. Mom was always up for an adventure or sight-seeing trip!
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Lonepine Hall at 1 p.m. in Lonepine. A meal will be served following the service. Cremation has taken place through The Lake Funeral Home, Polson, MT.

Chauncey Wallace Voorhies married Gertrude Lovina Heth in 1922. Chauncey Wallace Voorhies died on 19 September 1968 at Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside, Riverside Co., California, at age 70. Longtime Riverside resident dies at 70
Funeral services for longtime Riverside resident Chauncey W. Voorhies, 70, of 4389 Brentwood Place, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Riverside.
Voorhies died Thursday at Riverside Community Hospital following a heart attack.
He retired last year from the firm which he had founded in Riverside 40 years ago. Magnolia Electric Corp.
He came to Riverside in 1927 and established the electrical firm, which has been carried on by his two sons, Tom and Jack, since his retirement.
Before going into business for himself he worked as a chemist for California-Portland Cement in 1924 .
Voorhies attended Pomona College during World War I, except for a brief period when he attended officers' training school in Waco, Tex.
At Pomona, Voorhies was captain of the track team and won letters in that sport, football and basketball. He was accorded all-conference honors for two years,
Voorhies was honored last year when Pomona College paid tribute to some of its athletic heroes of the past. In ceremonies at Rodger Young Auditorium in Los Angeles he was presented with an athletic hall of fame award in recognition of his excellence in track while a student.
Voorhies had been a member of the National Electric Contractors Association since 1953. He served on the board of directors in Los Angeles for a number of years.
When the Southern Sierra chapter was chartered in 1963, he became a charter member and charter governor of the chapter. Voorhies served in that capacity until his death.
He has been chairman of the Riverside Area Joint Apprenticeship Committee for a number of years and a committee member more than 20 years.
Voorhies was a life member of American Legion Post 79.
In addition to his two sons in Riverside, survivors include his wife. Gertrude; a son, Donald, of Bellview, Wash; a daughter, Jane Kasselbaum, of Aspen, Colo, and eight grandchildren.
