MERIDIAN - The funeral for Elbert E. Luhr, 87, of Meridian, who died Monday, Jan.12, 2015, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at the Ustick Baptist Church, 14301 W. McMillan Road in Boise. Pastor Phil Moran will officiate. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.
Elbert was born June 4, 1927 in Caldwell, Idaho, to Frank and Mildred Luhr. He was so precious there are no words to tell how much he touched the lives of every person he met. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Luhr; his sister, Phyllis Lyon; and his wife, Ellen. Elbert is survived by his brother, Delmar; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Benny Greene, Kathy and Ted Hunt, and Vicki and Jerry Simmons; as well as seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Alverda Mae Lund was born January 31, 1923 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Frank Edwin and Alice (Haugan) Lund. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. She grew up in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School. She also attended Aakers Business College for 2 years at Fargo, ND. Alverda served as a Yeoman in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in New York.

On April 19, 1944, Alverda was united in marriage to Duane Frederick Noel. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. She retired in 1988 from Bridgeman Creamery, where she worked as secretary over 40 years.

Alverda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post #117. She enjoyed sports and the Minnesota Twins. She especially loved spending time with family, grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include daughter, Joy (Neil) Gillespie, Thief River Falls, MN and son Mike (Ruth Ann), Custer, SD; 6 grandchildren, Brian and Steve Gillespie, Nick Noel, Danny and Kristie Larson and Kyle Loeffler; 2 great grandchildren, Cole and Elle Gillespie; a brother, Lloyd Lund, Thief River Falls, MN.

Preceded in death by parents, husband, Duane in 1989, daughter Julie Larson, sister, Jane and brothers, George and Dennis.

A Mass of the Resurrection for Helen K. Fox, 89, of West Chicago, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at Norris-Walen Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. The Rev. Vern Arseneau will officiate.

Born July 24, 1908, in West Chicago, to James and Hanna Lynch, she died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at King Bruwaert House, Burr Ridge. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Fox had been a resident of West Chicago virtually all of her life and was a direct descendant of Peter Baker, whose pre-Civil War home on Prince Crossing has been restored through the generosity of Mrs. Fox and her family. She and her husband, Wayne S. Fox, were also instrumental in the redevelopment of the former Chicago and Northwestern Railroad train station in West Chicago into the Wayne and Helen Fox Community Center.

Mrs. Fox was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Catholic Daughters of America Court 432 of West Chicago. She was also a former member of the West Chicago Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne S. Fox; son, David W. ('Mike') Fox of Burr Ridge; granddaughters, Susan (Matthew) McGuire of Hinsdale and Katherine (Ryan) Lanham of Chicago; grandsons, David W. (Alexandra) Fox Jr. of New Canaan, Conn., and Thomas E. Fox of Beaverton, Ore; brother, Thomas Lynch of West Chicago; sister, Mae Reuland; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Contributions in Mrs. Fox's memory may be made to the Wayne and Helen Fox Community Center, 305 Main St., West Chicago, IL 60185.

     Lindol Sprague Lytle was born on 12 September 1867 at Ohio. He was born after 1866.1 He was the son of Reynolds Knox Lytle and Mary Sprague.1 Lindol Sprague Lytle married Fannie Hume in 1887. Lindol Sprague Lytle died on 17 October 1902 at Ohio at age 35. He was buried on 19 October 1902 at Westside Cemetery, Delphos, Van Wert Co., Ohio.2 Lindol Sprague Lytle was a railroad brakeman.

Remains Brought Home-Funeral Sunday Afternoon at 2:30 From Presbyterian Church.

Additional particulars have been received regarding the shocking death of Lindol S. Lytle, which occurred near Pleasant Bend at about noon Friday, while in the discharge of his ties as brakeman on the Clover. No one saw the accident occur and the particulars can only be surmised. A passenger from Frankfort, Ind., in the local caboose, and was the last one to talk to Lytle. As soon as the train left Pleasant Bend he climbed to the top of the train and started for the engine. It is supposed that he was climbing from the top of a boxcar on to a gondola, loaded with cinders, when he missed his footing and fell to the rails below. The first intimation oi the accident was noticed when a piece of Lytle's clothing was seen to fly from the rail to the ditch beside the road bed. The train was immediately stopped and the remains picked up. Death was instantaneous. One leg was entirely severed, an arm broken, his chest crushed and the top and back of his head terribly mangled. The remains were brought to on Clover Leaf passenger train No. 5 Friday evening, and taken to Jauman’s undertaking establishment and prepared for burial. They were conveyed to the home of the grief stricken widow on west Third street this morning.
Mr. Lytle was a member of the Royal Arcanum and was also a member the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. The funeral will be held from Presbyterian church, Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 sun time. The services will be conducted by the pastor, A. O. Raber, and the remains interred the West Side cemetery. A greater portion of the church will be for the relatives and friends.
