Dirck Jansen Hoogland married Annetje Fedden circa 1677. Dirck Jansen Hoogland died circa 1722 at Flatbush, Kings Co., New York.² He was buried at Flatlands Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery, Flatbush, Kings Co., New York.² He immigrated in 1657. Elbert Hoogland married Catalina Bennet circa 1729 at New York. Elbert Hoogland died on 9 November 1781 at New York at age 76. He was buried at Burial Details Unknown.²

     Elizabeth Hoogland was born circa 1766 at New York.¹ She was the daughter of John Elbert Hoogland and Elizabeth Rappelye. Elizabeth Hoogland married John Hopkins in 1792 at New York. Elizabeth Hoogland died on 23 May 1796 at Kingston, Jamaica.¹

     George Hoogland was baptized on 21 March 1750.¹ He was the son of Elbert Hoogland and Catalina Bennet.

Different name variation/spelling.

The current Hoagland name has many spellings. The family that settled in New Amsterdam, later New York, and moved to New Jersey originated from the Netherlands. The last count I had was 16 different spelling. Here are some of the spellings: Hoagland; Hoogland; Hooglandt; Hoochlant; van Hoochlandt. These last two spellings are the earliest in New York and into the Netherlands. As is the tradition, the family came from an area in the Netherlands call Hoochlant (close by the coast).

     Fred Hopkins was born circa 1867.¹ He married Henrietta E. Brewer, daughter of Edgar Brewer and Julia Josephine Purdy, in 1893 at Ithaca, Tompkins Co., New York. Fred Hopkins died on 2 October 1902 at Ithaca, Tompkins Co., New York.¹ Fred Hopkins was a Streetcar Motorman. The cause of death was died 5-days after a streetcar wreck, where he was the motorman.

     Harry W. Hopkins married Mary Arbuckle, daughter of Robert C. Arbuckle and Lethe Ann Harn, on 2 October 1866 at Shelby Co., Ohio.²
