South Bend, Ind., Jan. 12 (AP) Joseph M. Stephenson, 53, publisher of the South Bend News-Times from 1920 until its suspension in 1938, died in a Chicago hospital today after a brain operation Wednesday. A native of Rochester, he came here in 1917 from Gary. He leaves the widow and two children.²
