Jack Damon Ruple, Sr., 71, of Conway went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2024. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 10, 1953. He was the son of Marvin Worth Ruple and Lois Tedder Ruple Plant.

Jack was a loving father and grandfather. He received his law license in 1979. He worked as a law clerk for all trial court levels including Arkansas Supreme Court. He was appointed Master in Chancery for Pulaski County and retired as Division Chief of Research and Training at Pulaski Prosecuting Attorney's Office after working there 22 years. Jack loved God and often posted sermons on Facebook. He also loved spending time with his family and researching family genealogy. He was a caring neighbor and friend who was always there for the people in his life.

He is survived by his son, John Ruple and his wife Karah; grandson, Logan; and brother, Jimmy Ruple and his wife Lavonda; nieces and nephews, Steven, David and Suzanne.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Hamner Ruple and his mom, Lois Ruple Plant; dad, Marvin Ruple and stepdad, Jake Plant; half siblings, Gladys Tedder, Walter Lee Ruple and Jerry Lee Ruple.

The book The Ruple family in America and its Germanic heritage by Jack Damon Ruple Sr., provided a great deal of information on the Ruple and Rupel families. Had talked on the phone and exchanged a few letters. It appeared that our Ruple lines were not connected.

FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. - A man who shot and killed his father was arrested just outside Conway on Friday, the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office announced.

According to authorities, Jack Ruple Jr. was arrested and charged with capital murder and second-degree domestic battery after fatally shooting Jack Ruple Sr. just after 3 p.m. near Saddler Road.

Faulkner County sheriffs said Jack Ruple Jr. was booked into the Faulkner County Detention Center.

     Jacob Ruple was also known as Rupel. He was born in 1742 at Pennsylvania.¹ He was born circa 1735 at Germany/Switzerland.^2,3 He married Margaret Skinner in 1764 at Pennsylvania. Jacob Ruple died circa June 1797 at Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.^2,3,1 He was buried at Rupel Family Plot, Addison Twsp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.¹ John Coleman records FHL film 1673524 item 14.

In the book, THE RUPLE FAMILY IN AMERICA AND ITS GERMANIC HERITAGE, by Jack Damon Ruple, Sr., page 133-134. Jack D. Ruple Sr. states that "The records of the Historical and Genealogical Society of Somerset County contain a signed copy of a Jacob Ruple's will..."
Following is the complete text of that will:
"In the Name of God Amen. I Jacob Ruple of Turkeyfoot Township in the state of Pennsylvania farmer being in perfect state of health of body, and of perfect mind and memory thanks to be given to God calling into Mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent christian manner, at the discretion of my Exeutrix, Margaret Ruple, nothing doubting but in the general Resurrection I shal receive the same again by the Almighty power of God - and as Touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the manner and form following - First I give and bequeath to Margaret Ruple, My Dearly Beloved Wife all My Landed property that I am at this time possessed of - with all stock and movable affects During the Term of her Natural Life, and as I considered my son Jacob to have had a sufficiency by the Land I gave him on the Negro Mountain for his share, I therefore give and Bequeath My afforesaid Tract of Land I now live on after the decease of his mother Margaret Ruple to my son John Ruple and his heirs, and should the said John die without Heirs, and should the said Estate shall be divided among my five children, Martin, Peggy, Nancy, Betsy, and Barbary, and the said Heir is to pay my daughter Barbary the sum of Fifty pounds in Spanish Milled Dollars at seven shillings and six pen each, in 12 months after the decease of her mother Margaret Ruple. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy the remaining half tract of land that I sold to George Barnet, I also give and Bequeath to my son, John, the Horse I got of Mr. Ellis immedialy after my decrease, and I also give and bequeath to my son Martin the yearling Mare - I also give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy and Barbary each of them a horse, cow, and sheep. Exclusive of an equal divison of the remaining movables, I give and bequeath my sugar camp place for the life of the heirs of my Landed property I now live on, I also give and bequeath to the Heirs of my landed estate the wagon and wind Mill. And do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disanul all and every other testaments Wills, Legacies and Bequeaths in any ways made by me Excepting what I gave to my son Jacob Ruple, and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament, In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Sixteenth Day of July, 1795. /s/ "

Jack Damon Ruple Sr. continues on page 134 of his book, that "The August, 1974, issue of the "Laurel Messenger" of Somerset County reported the following:

Will dated July 3, 1795. Probated June 19, 1797. Wife - Margaret. Children: Jacob, John, Martin, Peggy, Nancy, Betsy, Barbara.




Jim Coleman produced a document on the Ruple family, which was microfiled by Genealogical Society of Utah in 1990 and stored at the FamilySearch Library (Family History Library) in Utah.
Hal Clarence "Jim" Coleman Jr. is the 4th great-grandson of Jacob Ruple, that died about 1797.

"Jacob Rupel and wife, Margaret, were living in Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, in 1774. They were the parents of seven children. He died ca. 1797 in Turkeyfoot, Township. His son, Jacob, was born in Pennsylvania in 1765. He and his wife, Ann Livengood, had ten children, 1794-1818, born in Pennsylvania and Ohio. He died in 1861 in Center Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana. Descendants listed lived in Indiana, Michigan, and elsewhere."⁴

     Jacob Ruple was born on 3 May 1811 at Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of John Rupel and Elizabeth Bird (Byrd). Jacob Ruple married Abigail McLintick() on 7 July 1833 at Elkhart Co., Indiana.^1,2 Jacob Ruple married Catherine Funk on 14 March 1839 at Indiana. Jacob Ruple died on 25 June 1868 at Indiana at age 57.^2,3 He was buried at Concord Cemetery, Kosciusko Co., Indiana.^2,3

     Jacob Ruple was born on 28 November 1806 at Preble Co., Ohio.^1,2 He was the son of Martin Ruple and Nancy Miller. Jacob Ruple married Leah Miller, daughter of Christopher Miller and Susanna (?), on 20 November 1827.² Jacob Ruple married Sarah Henry on 17 March 1854.² Jacob Ruple married Caroline Gill on 1 January 1873.² History of St. Joseph Co. pg 746, listed Jacob with 8 children.

The History of St. Joseph County, Indiana, 1880, page 746, had following:
Jacob Rupel was born in Preble county, Ohio, Nov. 28, 1806; his parents were Martin and Nancy Rupel, the former a native of Pennsylvania, and the later of Delaware. At the age of 12 he went to Darke county, where he lived till 1835, when he came to this county, which was at that time a wilderness, with but a few settlers who had just ventured in. He was one of the organizers of Liberty tp. (township), and assisted in building its first churches and school-houses. The wild deer roamed in great herds through the forest and over the swamps and marshes of the Kankakee. Mr. Rupel, in company with the noble red man, went on many a hunting expedition over this territory, and by continued practice with the Indian boys became expert as a marksman, and was generally known there as the renowned "deer-hunter". Sometimes he would go out and kill two or three before breakfast, so very numerous were they.
Nov. 20, 1827, Mr. R. was married to Miss Leah Miller, daughter of Christopher and Susanna Miller, who were natives of Pennsylvania. To this union were born 7 children, of whom 6 are living, viz.: Sarah, now Mrs. Benj. Ross; Nancy, now Mrs. Mark Smith, John W; Mary, now Mrs. Lewis Paul; Susanna, now Mrs. C.W.N. Stephens; Lydia, now Mrs. Nathaniel Canada. Mrs. Rupel died Sept. 10, 1852, and Mr. Rupel again married Mar. 17, 1854, Sarah Henry, by whom he had one child, Arvard B. Mrs. Rupel died Aug. 17, 1872, and Mr. R. again married Jan. 1, 1873, Caroline Gill, who died June 13, 1880. History of St. Joseph Co., pg 746, has surname as RUPEL.

     James Ruple was born on 29 August 1814 at Turkey Foot Twsp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.² He was the son of John Rupel and Elizabeth Bird (Byrd). James Ruple married Sarah Wagner Wood on 8 July 1837 at Elkhart Co., Indiana.² James Ruple died on 7 March 1904 at Constantine, St. Joseph Co., Michigan, at age 89.² Jim Coleman lists James' wife as Sarah Wagoner, married 28Jun1837. > > > Appears Sarah was 45 when had her ninth child, John.

     James Ruple was born circa October 1835 at Pennsylvania.^1,2 He was the son of Andrew Ruple and Sarah Jane Wilkins. James Ruple married Sarah McNay, daughter of John McNay and Rachel Alexander, on 13 January 1860.¹ James Ruple died on 29 October 1927 at Indiana.^1,2 He was buried at Osceola Cemetery, Elkhart, Elkhart Co., Indiana.^1,2 James listed as a farmer in the 1870 Census.

     James Madison Ruple was born on 28 September 1854 at Noble Co., Indiana.¹ He was born circa 1854 at Indiana.² He was the son of Aaron Adson Ruple and Amanda Eugenia Hart. James Madison Ruple married Alice C. Dauuer on 4 November 1881.² James Madison Ruple died on 10 April 1892 at Noble Co., Indiana, at age 37.¹ He was buried at Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier, Noble Co., Indiana.¹

     Jesse Ruple was born circa 1874 at Indiana.¹ He was the son of William Ruple and Matilda Angle. Jesse Ruple died in 1945 at Indiana.

     John Ruple was born on 5 September 1803 at Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of John Rupel and Elizabeth Bird (Byrd). John Ruple married Permelia Baldwin. John Ruple died on 27 April 1865 at Elkhart, Elkhart Co., Indiana, at age 61.¹ He was buried at Carlton Cemetery, Cleveland Twsp., Elkhart Co., Indiana.² Ruple Family in America, 1988, by Jack D.
