     Theda Rose Toland was born on 2 January 1923 at Rices Landing, Greene Co., Pennsylvania.¹ She was the daughter of Walter Sherwood Toland and Hazel Frances Holmes. Theda Rose Toland married Harry Richard Welling on 3 January 1942. Theda Rose Toland died on 17 July 2012 at Waynesburg, Greene Co., Pennsylvania, at age 89.¹ She was buried at Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Twsp., Greene Co., Pennsylvania.¹

Theda Welling, 89, of Rices Landing, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.

She was born January 2, 1923, in Rices Landing, daughter of the late Walter S. Toland and Hazel Holmes Toland Firestone.

Mrs. Welling was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Rices Landing.

She was a member of American Legion Post 954 Legion Auxiliary and had served as president, vice president and several offices at one time.

Mrs. Welling was a member of First Church of Nazarene of Waynesburg.

On January 3, 1942, she married Harry "Red" Welling, now deceased.

Also deceased are her two sisters, Mildred Harn of Mather and Connie Huffman of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

Surviving are a son, and wife of Young Harris, Ga; three daughters, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21.

Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice or American Cancer Society.

     Walter Sherwood Toland was born on 24 May 1895 at Marshall, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. He was the son of James Robert Clark Toland and Bertha Viola Ruder. Walter Sherwood Toland married Hazel Frances Holmes in 1919. Walter Sherwood Toland died on 2 June 1943 at Greene County Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Greene Co., Pennsylvania, at age 48.² He was buried at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Greene Co., Pennsylvania.²

     Denton G. Tolle was born on 22 October 1824 at Bourbon, Harrison Co., Kentucky.¹ He was the son of Johnathan Tolle and Henrietta Harn.¹ Denton G. Tolle married Nancy Whitaker in 1845.¹ Denton G. Tolle died on 14 May 1876 at Harrison Co., Kentucky, at age 51.¹

     Duane Arthur Tolle is the son of Wilmer Hobert Tolle and Lois Jeanette Jackson.

     Emily Jane Tolle was born on 8 April 1817 at Lewis Co., Kentucky.² She was born circa 1810 at Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of Mathias Tolle and Prudence Davis.¹ Emily Jane Tolle married Daniel Redman, son of Daniel Redman Jr. and Prudence Tyler, circa 1836 at Ohio. Emily Jane Tolle died on 9 January 1912 at Adams Co., Ohio, at age 94.² She was buried at Berea Chapel Cemetery, Brush Creek Twsp., Scioto Co., Ohio.²

Mrs. Emily Redmon who lacked but a few days of reaching the century mark died Tuesday on Rocky Fork in the home of Samuel Douglas, whose first wife was the granddaughter of the deceased. She was 95 yrs. of age, a native of Lewis Co., Ky and widow of the late Daniel Redmon (who was a veteran of the Mexican War). She is survived by three sons Samuel & Zachariah of Otway & John of Manchester. Burial was in the Berea Chapel Cemetery on Rocky Fork.

     Gordon Jackson Tolle is the son of Wilmer Hobert Tolle and Lois Jeanette Jackson.

     Harriet Amanda Tolle was born on 10 July 1850 at Adams Co., Ohio.¹ She was the daughter of William Fletcher Tolle and Euphamy M. Bunny Ann Davis.¹ Harriet Amanda Tolle married John Newton Hildebrandt.¹ Harriet Amanda Tolle died on 8 November 1922 at Hillsboro, Highland Co., Ohio, at age 72.¹

     Henry Tolle was the son of Stephen Tolle and Amelia Harn.¹

     Holly Beth Tolle was born on 13 January 1953 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana. She was the daughter of Wilmer Hobert Tolle and Lois Jeanette Jackson. Holly Beth Tolle died on 20 July 1996 at Statesboro, Bulloch Co., Georgia, at age 43.

     Johnathan Tolle was born in 1779 at Fauquier Co., Virginia.¹ He married Henrietta Harn, daughter of Elijah Harn and Cassandra Davis, in 1807 at Mason Co., Kentucky.¹ Johnathan Tolle died in 1850 at Harrison Co., Kentucky.¹

     Mary Tolle married Elijah Harn, son of John Hearn and Dorcas Davis, on 1 February 1814 at Lewis Co., Kentucky.¹

     Mathias Tolle was born on 11 June 1784 at Virginia. He married Prudence Davis on 10 March 1812 at Kentucky. Mathias Tolle died on 29 March 1860 at Kentucky at age 75.

     Roger Tolle is the son of Wilmer Hobert Tolle and Lois Jeanette Jackson.

     Rosalie Kay Tolle was born circa 1948 at Indiana. She was the daughter of Wilmer Hobert Tolle and Lois Jeanette Jackson.

     Sarah Ellen Tolle was born on 22 September 1853 at Harrison Co., Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of Denton G. Tolle and Nancy Whitaker.¹ Sarah Ellen Tolle married Daniel Talbott Nichols.¹ Sarah Ellen Tolle died on 8 January 1922 at Cynthiana, Harrison Co., Kentucky, at age 68.¹

     Stephen Tolle was born circa 1785 at Virginia.² He married Amelia Harn, daughter of Elijah Harn and Cassandra Davis, on 14 May 1810 at Mason Co., Kentucky.¹ Stephen Tolle married Rachel Harn, daughter of Elijah Harn and Cassandra Davis, on 15 October 1812 at Lewis Co., Kentucky.¹

     William Fletcher Tolle was born on 12 September 1829 at Kentucky.¹ He was the son of Stephen Tolle and Rachel Harn.¹ William Fletcher Tolle married Euphamy M. Bunny Ann Davis.¹

     Wilmer Hobert Tolle was born on 8 September 1910 at Tipton, Cass Co., Indiana.¹ He married Lois Jeanette Jackson, daughter of Irvin William Jackson and Lorena Pearl Wenger, on 7 June 1941 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana. Wilmer Hobert Tolle died on 5 February 1998 at Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, at age 87.¹ He was buried at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.¹ He began military service on 15 September 1942 at US Navy. He ended military service on 13 December 1945.

     Ruby Aileen Tomlinson was born on 22 June 1921 at Rushville, Schuyler Co., Illinois.¹ She married Robert Henry Harn, son of John Thomas Harn and Wilma Demy, on 27 August 1939 at New London, Ralls Co., Missouri. Ruby Aileen Tomlinson married John Wilder Barnett on 24 June 1972 at Pekin, Tazewell Co., Illinois. Ruby Aileen Tomlinson died on 1 September 1996 at East Peoria, Tazewell Co., Illinois, at age 75.¹ She was buried at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Schuyler Co., Illinois.¹

     Jolene Tompkins married Joseph Stuart Hadsall, son of Jeffery Scott Hadsall and Connie Jo Harn, on 11 March 2000 at Lewistown, Fulton Co., Illinois.

     Colton Michael Toney is the son of Mark Evan Toney and Lori Lynn Sanders.

     Conner Lee Toney is the son of Mark Evan Toney and Lori Lynn Sanders.

     Jace Alan Toney is the son of Mark Evan Toney and Lori Lynn Sanders.

Jean Tonkin married George Ross Brinkley Jr. on 25 June 1949 at Clarksburg, Harrison Co., West Virginia.^1,2 Jean Tonkin died on 26 December 2009 at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville, Frederick Co., Maryland, at age 83.^4,3 She was buried at New Market Cemetery, New Market, Frederick Co., Maryland.^4,5,3 She lived in 1957 at Baltimore, Maryland.

NEW MARKET, Md. - Mrs. Jean Tonkin Brinkley, 83, well-known longtime resident of New Market, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walkersville, Md.

She was the wife of the late Dr. George Ross Brinkley Jr., who died Sept. 11, 1982.

Born in Clarksburg, W.Va., on July 24, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Loring Lombard and Norma Smith Tonkin.

Mrs. Brinkley was a homemaker and for many years, she was a breeder of show ponies. She was one of the founding members of the Frederick Pony Club and the New Market Hounds. She was a very active bridge player and member of the Frederick and Hagerstown Bridge Clubs, and a member of the New Market Garden Club. She was very active in the Frederick and Middletown Women's Republican Clubs.

Mrs. Brinkley was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in New Market, the church vestry and the Daughters of the King.

Surviving are her four children, Norma Brinkley Staley and husband, Patrick, of Monrovia, Md., Elizabeth Brinkley Sponseller and husband, Michael, Sen. David Ross Brinkley and wife, Sallie, and Dr. Susan Brinkley-Gowl and husband, Wade, all of New Market; one sister, Norma Tonkin Brigham of Williamsburg, Va; 11 grandchildren, D. Gordon Staub and wife, Kelly, J. Christopher Staub and wife, Paula, Ryan P. Staley, H. Luba Staley, P. Ross Brinkley Staley, Lusa A. Staley, Michael Sponseller, Jennifer Sponseller Webster and husband, Chuncey, Margaret T. Brinkley, D. Ross Brinkley Jr. and Erina E. Brinkley; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by a sister-in-law, Alberta Brinkley Holtz, of Vero Beach, Fla.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Tonkin; three sisters, Margaret Crumrine, Mary Davis and Martha Spelsberg; brother-in-law, Edgar W. Holtz; and her best friend, Mary D. Gove, who died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, from Grace Episcopal Church, 5740 Green Valley Road, (Md. 75) New Market. The Rev. Mary-Pat Ashby, rector of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in New Market Cemetery.⁴ She lived in March 2006 at New Market, Frederick Co., Maryland.⁶
