Mrs. Welling was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Rices Landing.
She was a member of American Legion Post 954 Legion Auxiliary and had served as president, vice president and several offices at one time.
Mrs. Welling was a member of First Church of Nazarene of Waynesburg.
On January 3, 1942, she married Harry "Red" Welling, now deceased.
Also deceased are her two sisters, Mildred Harn of Mather and Connie Huffman of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Surviving are a son, and wife of Young Harris, Ga; three daughters, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21.
Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Jean Tonkin was born on 24 July 1926 at Clarksburg, Harrison Co., West Virginia.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Loring Lombard Tonkin and Norma Madeline Smith. Jean Tonkin married George Ross Brinkley Jr. on 25 June 1949 at Clarksburg, Harrison Co., West Virginia.1,2 Jean Tonkin died on 26 December 2009 at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville, Frederick Co., Maryland, at age 83.4,3 She was buried at New Market Cemetery, New Market, Frederick Co., Maryland.4,5,3 She lived in 1957 at Baltimore, Maryland.

NEW MARKET, Md. - Mrs. Jean Tonkin Brinkley, 83, well-known longtime resident of New Market, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walkersville, Md.
She was the wife of the late Dr. George Ross Brinkley Jr., who died Sept. 11, 1982.
Born in Clarksburg, W.Va., on July 24, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Loring Lombard and Norma Smith Tonkin.
Mrs. Brinkley was a homemaker and for many years, she was a breeder of show ponies. She was one of the founding members of the Frederick Pony Club and the New Market Hounds. She was a very active bridge player and member of the Frederick and Hagerstown Bridge Clubs, and a member of the New Market Garden Club. She was very active in the Frederick and Middletown Women's Republican Clubs.
Mrs. Brinkley was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in New Market, the church vestry and the Daughters of the King.
Surviving are her four children, Norma Brinkley Staley and husband, Patrick, of Monrovia, Md., Elizabeth Brinkley Sponseller and husband, Michael, Sen. David Ross Brinkley and wife, Sallie, and Dr. Susan Brinkley-Gowl and husband, Wade, all of New Market; one sister, Norma Tonkin Brigham of Williamsburg, Va; 11 grandchildren, D. Gordon Staub and wife, Kelly, J. Christopher Staub and wife, Paula, Ryan P. Staley, H. Luba Staley, P. Ross Brinkley Staley, Lusa A. Staley, Michael Sponseller, Jennifer Sponseller Webster and husband, Chuncey, Margaret T. Brinkley, D. Ross Brinkley Jr. and Erina E. Brinkley; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by a sister-in-law, Alberta Brinkley Holtz, of Vero Beach, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Tonkin; three sisters, Margaret Crumrine, Mary Davis and Martha Spelsberg; brother-in-law, Edgar W. Holtz; and her best friend, Mary D. Gove, who died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, from Grace Episcopal Church, 5740 Green Valley Road, (Md. 75) New Market. The Rev. Mary-Pat Ashby, rector of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in New Market Cemetery.4 She lived in March 2006 at New Market, Frederick Co., Maryland.6
