Geraldine (Jerry) Polfus was born on November 28, 1921 to parents Paul and Clara (Miottel) Polfus at Revillo, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Revillo. Jerry attended school in Revillo and graduated in 1939. She was united in marriage on December 28, 1942 to Curtis Anderson in Marion, Arkansas. To this union two children were born. After marriage Jerry & Curtis made their home in Pensacola, Florida for a few years while Curtis served in the Navy. They, then returned to Madison in 1945.
Jerry was an exceptional mother as well as a tireless volunteer in the community. Her career included working at Anthony's Clothing Store, Ulrich's Dress Shop, the Madison Hospital, and the Madison High School as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. Her volunteer work was her hobby. It included working at Faith Lutheran Church as Head of the Altar Guild for over 30 years, Secretary of Faith Lutheran, Chairwoman of Do Day, Chairwoman of WELCA, Past President of the Madison Legion Auxiliary, Board President of the HUD services in Madison, food shelf work, funeral hostess, Co-Chair of Faith Lutheran's rummage sales, member of Faith Lutheran's County Fair committee, a member and past president of the Hospital/Lutheran Home Auxiliary. She also worked at Red Cross Blood drives, served as Election Judge for 30 years, and managed the Gift Shop at the Madison Lutheran Home for several years. Lastly, she was honored by being named Lac qui Parle County's Out-Standing Senior Citizen in 1999.
Death came to Jerry on February 27, 2013 at the Madison Lutheran Home. She had reached the age of 91 years 2 months and 29 days. Jerry is survived by her children; Dennis and wife, Judy Anderson, of Minnetrista, MN , and Bonnie and husband, Scott Ulman of Rosemount, MN; two grandsons, Reece and Trenton Anderson, one sister Darlene, and her husband Myron Reinartz of Huron, SD, one sister-in-law, Lois Polfus, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Curtis, brother Raymond and sister Norma. Blessed be her memory.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon (March 3, 2013) at the Zahrbock Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue before the services on Monday at the church.
Memorial services will be Monday, 11:00 a.m., March 4, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison. Rev. Kirk Meseck will officiate at the service. Special music will be provided by Linda Anderson, organist and
Julie Hill, soloist. Spring burial will take place at a later date.1 She was buried at Faith Cemetery, Madison, Lac qui Parle Co., Minnesota.2

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N. in Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Faribault Area Hospice or the Jasinski Family Endowment Fund at South Central College in memory of JoAnne.

JoAnne, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Mape) Popelka, was born on June 28, 1927 in Ostrander, MN. Her family would move to Faribault and JoAnne attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1945. After high school, she attended St. Mary's Nursing School in Rochester, MN and received her Registered Nurse degree. JoAnne returned to Faribault and began working as a Nurse. On October 1, 1949 she was united in marriage to Jerome Jasinski Sr. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. After their marriage, JoAnne stayed at home to raise their growing family and also did private nursing for people. When their children were off at school JoAnne returned to nursing at the District One Hospital and later at the Faribault Regional Center. JoAnne was also involved in the operation of the family business, Grampa Al's and worked in the Pro Shop at the Faribault Golf Club, where she was the longest continuous member until her death. Jerry preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2006. JoAnne was an active member at Divine Mercy Catholic Church as a Befriender, Rosary Society and Communion Minister. She was a member of the Keller Club, received designation as an Unsung Hero from the Faribault Daily News and enjoyed playing Bridge and golfing, where she was a former club champion.

She is survived by six children, Jamie (Ted) Erickson, Jim (April) Jasinski, Julie "Judy" Harn (Jerry Winbush), Jenny Jasinski-Krantzberg (Terry Schmidt), Jerome Jr. "Jake" Jasinski and John Jasinski (Shan), all of Faribault, MN; by eleven grandchildren, Andy Erickson, Lizzy (Andy) Burke, Grady Harn, Hailey (Erick) Warner, Hattie Harn, Sarah Jasinski, Joe Jasinski, Sam Jasinski, Jacie Jasinski, Nell Ernste and Eli Jasinski; by three great grandchildren; by her siblings, John "JP" Popelka of Casper, WY and Karen "Kayo" (Jim) Lang of Burnsville, MN; by her brother-in-law, Don (Marie) Jasinski of Faribault, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great granddaughter, Hazel, sister, Dorthea "Sis" Claesgens and three brothers, Robert, Vance and Chuck Popelka.

She died on 4 December 1933 at Luzerne Twsp., Fayette Co., Pennsylvania, at age 71.2 She was buried at Redstone Cemetery, Brownsville, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania.2
