     Lyman Williams Jr. was born on 15 June 1805 at Herkimer, Herkimer Co., New York.¹ He married Rovena Reed, daughter of Calvin Reed and Olivia Elizabeth Warner, on 19 April 1832 at Medina, Medina Co., Ohio.¹ Lyman Williams Jr. died on 18 August 1879 at Olmsted, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, at age 74.¹ He was buried at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, North Olmsted, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio.¹

MARY HARN WILLIAMS
     Mary Harn Williams, practical newspaper woman and prominent suffragist, was born in Laurence, Mass., Nov. 26, 1855. Her father, Alvin Dighton Williams, was in his young manhood a Freewill Baptist minister. He was a graduate of Hamilton College in the class of 1849. In 1857 he came west and was pastor of a church in Minneapolis. Later he became principal of the Minnesota Seminary and was State Superintendent of Schools in West Va. He came to Nebraska as principal of the Normal School at Peru and held many positions of trust in the state. Her mother was Sarah Ann (Harn) Williams, a native of Maryland, a graduate of Cedar Hill Seminary, and later a teacher there. Her oldest brother, George H. Harn, was an abolitionist and was active in the organizations of the Republican Party. Miss Williams was educated at Cheshire Academy, Ohio; in the West Va. College, at the Neb. State Normal School, and at the University of Nebraska. She took a special course in library work in the Columbian University, and there was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. While living in Washington she was secretary of the District of Columbia Suffrage Association. For eight years she has been secretary of the Nebraska State Equal Suffrage Association and has been a delegate from Nebraska to the National Equal Suffrage Convention nine times, and was for years the Nebraska member on the National Executive Committee. She is a practical newspaper woman and from the time she left school until 1890 she devoted much time to newspaper work and says she has done everything about an office "from inking the roller to writing editorials." From 1890 to 1900 she was compositor in a government printing office in Washington, D. C. She has written poems, sketches and feature articles for local and state papers. She has traveled over most of the United States and in 1910 spent a part of the year in a journey through Europe, going as far east as Greece. In recent years she had lived at Kenesaw, Neb., with her aunt, Miss Ellen D. Harn, who is a woman of very interesting personality. She taught school for forty years and then bought ten acres near Kenesaw on which she built a home. When almost ninety years of age she cared for her flower and vegetable gardens as well as chickens. She was at 87, president of the Local Equal Suffrage Association and her great hope was that she might live to see the franchise give to the women of Nebraska.

Mary lived for many years with Ellen Dorcas Harn. Mary was corresponding secretary of Adams Co Suffrage organization.

     Mary Sophia Williams was born on 13 August 1831 at Springfield, Bradford Co., Pennsylvania.² She was the daughter of Phineas Cromwell Williams and Mary Marilla Loomis. Mary Sophia Williams married George Henry Norton on 30 November 1854. Mary Sophia Williams died on 9 July 1894 at Kenesaw, Adams Co., Nebraska, at age 62.² She was buried at Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, Adams Co., Nebraska.²

     Merry Christmas Williams was born on 25 December 1880 at Fort Wayne, Allen Co., Indiana.^1,2 She was the daughter of Adelbert Dexter Williams and Julia Ann Warren.³ Merry Christmas Williams married Orlando Clinton Harn, son of Ira Baker Harn and Ranzella Necola Fitch, on 25 June 1902; 1949 Who's Who on the Pacific Coast. Shelley Williams, age 66, our beloved died, August 31, 2015, 1:40 am from a more than ten year battle with cancer.

We are grateful for her doctors, hospital, and hospice workers. The battle was repeated three times as the cancer metastisized more harshly each time. Even during the worst times Shelley handled her situation with grace and a positive attitude, always smiling. Her last few weeks at the residential hospice were spent with her loving family and friends by her side around the clock. Her memory will forever be with all of us.

Born, July 29, 1949 in Greenwich, Connecticut, the family moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1951. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1967, then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where she graduated from the University of Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Shelley, and first husband Bruce Dodds, opened the original Colonel's Deli in Bearden. She was one of the first few employees of the 13-30 Corporation, as a Graphic Designer and was later to promoted to Art Director and Vice President as the company evolved to become Whittle Communications. She was also in charge of recruiting and mentoring many of the talented designers who worked there.

In 1992 Shelley left Whittle Communications and returned to the University of Tennessee where she received a Masters of Fine Arts, in Graphic Design. She worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and upon graduating, Adjunct Professor. Around 2003, Shelley opened NuMarkets, an innovative online consignment store. She later worked with Seven Seas Estate Sales and at Talbott's call center, where she regularly was awarded top performer. Shelley was a talented artist, designer, and photographer. She saw beauty and found amusement in simple things. She loved restoration. She lived in three different log homes and had a few convertibles. She enjoyed the outdoors and hiking. She loved all creatures, especially cats. As a youth she enjoyed swimming with the ACAC and bowling at ARK Lanes, Oak Ridge.

Her life was filled with her love of art, work, friends and family. So many of her peers and friends have expressed their love and admiration for her. She was a wonderful mother, sister, a great friend, and a mentor for many.

Shelley is survived by her son, Adam Bellows; her older brother, Bill and his wife, Betty and their children, Tony, Pat and Merritt; her younger brother, Mike and his wife, Daphne Birnios and their son, Michael; and cousin, Ginger Gillum and aunt, Dorothy Williams.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, Bill and Donna Williams; nephew, Jason "Muffin" Williams; and her ex-husband, Keith Bellows; as well as, her uncle, Allen C. Williams and a life-long family friend, Gerry Hatt. Shelley was an eye donor and was cremated according to her wishes. Her ashes will be spread by several of her friends in special places in honor of her memory.

A celebration of Shelley's life will be held during an outdoor pot-luck luncheon on October 11, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00pm, at Ijams Nature Center, Knoxville, Tennessee, where friends and family will gather to share memories of Shelley. People attending are asked to bring a dish to share, a blanket or chair and especially a photo or memory you might like to share. William "Bill" Williams III

OAK RIDGE - William E. (Bill) Williams III, Oak Ridge High graduate, Red Cross Volunteer 73, passed away December 1, 2019. He was born April 28, 1946 in Stamford, CT to the late William E. Williams, Jr. and Donna Stickley Williams.

He was a 1964 graduate of Oak Ridge High School where he was on the bowling and tennis teams. He spent summers as a lifeguard and swim coach at the Oak Ridge municipal pool. He worked for the City of Oak Ridge, and the Y-12 plant. He was a past president of the Oak Ridge Jaycees. He graduated from UTK in 1974 with a B.S. degree and moved to Rochester, NY, where he worked for Lawyer's Cooperative Publishing Co. in Industrial Relations. He moved back to Oak Ridge in 1978 to work for Sprague Electric in Clinton, TN. In 1989 he went to work at Guncraft Sports as VP and General Manager. His early interest in CB radio led to get his Ham Radio license (KC4GW).

He also enjoyed target shooting. In 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, Wilma and Rita disasters, Bill volunteered with the American Red Cross. He had many assignments around the country as well as here in East Tennessee. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor. He cared very much about reconnecting with classmates and friends, so you could usually find him on Facebook.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son Jason Williams and sister Shelley Williams. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Wiest Williams, 3 sons, William Merritt of Oak Ridge; Tony (Dorothy) of Enid, OK; Patrick (Janet) of Groton, CT; brother Michael (Daphne) of Knoxville; 5 grandchildren, Liam Williams, 10, of Oak Ridge; Maria Williams, 20, of Enid, OK; TamTam Williams, 19, of Conroe, TX; Patrick Josh (PJ) Williams, 7, and Krystine Williams, 3, of Groton, CT; cousin Ginger Gillum of Crystal Beach, FL; and 9 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Weatherford Mortuary on Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 with service to follow at 7:00 pm by The Reverend Bob Cantrell.      William Edgar Williams Jr. was born on 2 August 1915 at New Willard, Polk Co., Texas.¹ He was born on 2 August 1915.² He married Mary Donna Stickley, daughter of Lloyd Welcome Stickley and Odell Hoover, circa 1945. William Edgar Williams Jr. married Grace Meek circa 1989. William Edgar Williams Jr. died on 4 September 2004 at Tennessee at age 89.² He was buried at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Oak Ridge, Anderson Co., Tennessee.² He graduated at University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, Bachelor of Science in Engineering.¹ He was employed in April 1941 at Union Carbide - Vinylite Division, Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio.¹ William Edgar Williams Jr. was a Personnel Manager, at Union Carbide - General Office, New York City, New York.¹

William Edgar Williams, Jr.

W. E. (Bill) Williams, Jr., formerly of Oak Ridge and Tellico Village, passed away September 4 at Park West Hospital after an extended illness. He was 89.

Mr. Williams was born in New Willard, Texas, August 2, 1915. He attended Rice University, and received a BS in Engineering from Univ. of Colorado, Boulder, and an MS in Industrial Mgt. from the University of Tennessee. He joined Union Carbide in April of 1941 in the Cleveland, Ohio Vinylite Division, was transferred to the Bakelite Division in NJ, and for 5 years was personnel manager of the General Office of Union Carbide Corporation in New York City before coming to Oak Ridge in June 1951. There he became Executive Assistant to the General Supervisor of Industrial Relations for UCCC, and at the time of his retirement, in 1978, was Benefit Plans Coordinator for the Nuclear Division of Union Carbide Corporation. During his time with Union Carbide in Oak Ridge, he worked at the K-25, X-IO, and Y -12 plants.

A long time collector of antique furniture and collectibles, his special interest was lumber and coal scrip and mining-related collectibles, and he was known nationally for his expertise in this area. He was past President of the National Coal Scrip Collectors Assoc. and served as co-editor for the chief reference book on the subject.

He was a long time member and past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the BPOE 1684 (Elks Club). He was also active in the Oak Ridge community, serving as a member of the Oak Ridge Town Council in 1956 and 1957 during the transitional years to Incorporation, on Boards of Directors and as fund drive chairman and budget chairman for Anderson County Community Chest/Red Cross, Anderson County United Way, Chairman of the Governor's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped, UCC Safety Committee, past president of Southeast Amateur Athletic Union, and past president of the Atomic City Aquatic Club.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Stickley Williams of Oak Ridge, and his parents William Edgar Sr. and Madge Brown Williams of New Willard, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Grace Meek Williams of The Neighborhood at Tellico Village; his brother and sister-in-law Allen Cornelius and Dorothy Williams of Sugar Land, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Bill III and Betty Wiest Williams of Oak Ridge; daughter Shelley Williams of Knoxville; son Mike Williams and daughter-in-law Daphne Birnios of Knoxville; 6 grandsons, Jason, Merritt, and Patrick Williams of Oak Ridge, Tony Williams of NAS, Oceania, VA; Adam Bellows of Knoxville; and Michael Williams of Knoxville.

Mr. Williams will be remembered by family and friends as a man who could quickly become an expert in any his children's interests, could coax a life story out of anyone he met within 30 minutes and a fine finish out of the most unpromising piece of furniture, was always ready to share in a good joke, and could keep a poker face long enough to empty your pockets. He will be missed daily by family and friends.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, PO Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384-9410 or the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.

     William Merritt Williams is the son of William Edgar Williams III and Helen Elizabeth Wiest.
