STINCHCOMB -

Mrs. Wanda Stinchcomb, aged 78, of Lowell, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2004 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Mrs. Stinchcomb was a member of Lowell VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Fallasburg Park Historical Society, former member of the Scottish Society and a substitute teacher for the Grand Rapids School System.

At the time her parents moved to Lowell from Acme, MI, Mrs. Stinchcomb joined the US Navy, serving during WWII in the Waves. One of her goals in life was to travel abroad to places she had read about in books. She was a supporter of the Arts, and encouraged her children to get involved in many cultural experiences.

Preceding her in death was her husband, James F. Stinchcomb in 1987; her daughter, Suzanne; her son, Warren Bradley Stinchcomb; her granddaughter, Jennifer Stinchcomb; and her brother, Leonard Showalter.

Mrs. Stinchcomb is survived by her children, William and Joyce Stinchcomb of Lawrence, MI, Patricia and Cliff Terpstra of Comstock Park, Bruce Stinchcomb of Walker, Wendy Stinchcomb of Redford, MI, Mark Stinchcomb of Grand Rapids and Craig Stinchcomb of Lowell; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mrs. Stinchcomb will be Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Chapel with Chaplain John Poston officiating. Military Honors will be under the auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment St. Mary's Cemetery, Lowell.
