Fred Brewer, 80, Dies in Whitewater
WHITEWATER - Fred J Brewer, 80, died Saturday (Apr. 4, 1970) in a nursing home.
He was graduated from Cornell University in 1912 and was the field manager for grading equipment at the Bucyrus-Erie Co., Milwaukee, until retiring in 1967 to Whitewater. He was a 50-year member of the Masons, past president of the State School Board Assn., and member of the Elks Club and the South Milwaukee Board of Education.
Surviving are his wife, Iva; two daughters, Mrs. June White, Hudson, O., and Mrs. Helen Salter, Waukesha; a son, William, Ikejo, Japan, and a sister, Mrs. Howard Rappleye. Washington, D. C.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Skindingsrude Funeral Home.

WAUKESHA - Helen B. Salter of the town of Waukesha died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1991, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born Helen Brewer in South Milwaukee on July 26, 1925, to Fred J. and Margaret Brewer
A graduate of Iowa State University at Ames, she taught home economics in the Waukesha School System until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waukesha, and of the Philathea Society there.
Her loving husband, Bruce, to whom she was married more than 40 years, survives her. She was the beloved mother of three sons, Michael (Donna) of Janesville, Mitchell (Heidi) of Waukesha and Steven of Menomonee Falls. She will also be missed by her five grandchildren, and Steven's fiancee, Mary Rowland. Also surviving are her sister, Jane (Wade) White of Sarasota, Fla., and brother, William (Saki) Brewer of Grantsville, Utah. Other relatives and friends further survive.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. The body will be cremated.

Former Teacher - Laura Johnson Dies Suddenly
Mrs. Laura Brewer Johnson, long-time educator in the Mt Diablo area, died suddenly at Yosemite National Park yesterday. She was 68 years old.
Mrs. Johnson, a 35-year resident of Concord, was principal and teacher of the Nichols School prior to the unification of the Mt. Diablo School District. Her husband, Rufus, also was a teacher.
Mrs. Johnson lived at 2827 Concord Blvd. She was a native of Ithaca, New York.
An active clubwoman, Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Concord Chapter of O.E.S., the East Contra Costa Branch of California Retired Teachers Association and the American Association of University Women.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, William Johnson of Watsonville, daughter, Mrs. Barbara J. Smith of Concord, and three grandchildren, Stuart, Susan and Stacy Smith, all of Concord. Son-in-law Williamm Smith is principal of Riverview Intermediate School.
She also leaves a brother, Fred Brewer, of Wisconsin, and a sister, Mrs. Nettie Rappleye, Washington, D. C.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will take place Monday, July 6, at 11:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 3039 Willow Pass Rd. Burial will follow at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno. Friends may call at the MacFarlane-Bryant Chapel.
