The Church of God denomination was organized in Wooster, Ohio in May 1848, by Elder A. Medgrew, with a membership of but sixteen persons. Rev. G.U. Harn commenced his labors as pastor in April, 1851.

The Sixteenth Ohio Regiment for three years' service was organized at Camp Tiffin, near Wooster, October 2, 1861. The regimental camp was located in Quimby Grove, a short distance northwest of the present site of Wooster University. Five companies for this regiment were recruited in Wayne county, commanded respectively by Eli W. Botsford, Hamilton Richeson, Samuel Smith, George U. Harn and A.S. McClure.
The regiment moved to Camp Dennison November 27, 1861, and remained there until December 19th, when it was ordered to Lexington, Kentucky. After a toilsome march of sixteen days through a rough mountain region, the command reached the Ohio at Greensburg, Kentucky, October 3, 1862. The regiment was ordered to Charleston, West Virginia, and from thence to Memphis, Tennessee, to join General Sherman's command, then being organized for the capture of Vicksburg. In December Sherman's forces moved down the Mississippi in transports, arriving at the mouth of the Yazoo on Christmas day. On December 28th the enemy was driven out of his line of rifle pits in front of the bluffs, and on the 29th of December General Morgan's division was ordered to assault them. The position of the Confederates was impregnable and the assault was disastrous. The Sixteenth lost very heavily. Capt. G.U. Harn was killed. The regiment lost in this engagement three hundred and eleven officers and men killed, wounded and captured.⁵

George Upton Harn II married Jane Delano McCormick, daughter of Frances Asbury McCormick and Elizabeth Harriet Crum, circa 1877 at Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio.⁴ George Upton Harn II was buried circa 1929 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma.⁴ He died circa 1929 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma.⁴
     He appeared on the census of 19 January 1920 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma; listed as 67 years old, living with his son.

     George Upton Harn III was born on 8 September 1878 at Mansfield, Richland Co., Ohio.² He was the son of George Upton Harn II and Jane Delano McCormick. George Upton Harn III married Margaret Luella Jones, daughter of John Edward Jones and Elizabeth Emily (?), on 4 June 1906 at Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio. George Upton Harn III died on 2 February 1955 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma, at age 76.² He was buried circa 1955 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma.²
     He appeared on the census of 19 January 1920 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma; listed as 41 years old. The cause of death was Cancer. Louise Harn listed G.U. Harn III as born in Mansfield/Wooster, Ohio.

Services for George Upton Harn Sr., 76, of 307 NE 17, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Smith & Kernke funeral chapel, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery. He died of cancer Wednesday at his home. He had been ill since last June.
Harn was co-owner of the 92-acre Harn tract which extended south and west of the state capitol. Harn joined his uncle in real estate and oil developments here and in Texas in 1910. He had worked in Columbus, Ohio branch of the U.S. weather bureau before that. Amateur meteorology was his lifelong hobby.
The Harn tract was originally owned by the late William F. Harn, pioneer city government agent and real estate developer. He held the land for many years in unshaken belief that the city would "grow up around it". George Harn, his nephew, inherited co-ownership of the tract with his cousin, Miss Florence O. Wilson, 301 NE 17.
Of recent years development of the land has been a controversial issue in the city. Some weeks ago, Sears Roebuck & Co., concluded negotiations to build a large warehouse on a portion of the tract.
Affiliated with the First Methodist church, Harn was serving as treasurer of both the state and local American War Dads associations here. He is survived by his wife, Luella, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Bill McCarty, 1201 NE 15; three sons, George Upton Jr., Dallas; Edward J., Bentonville, Ark., and John R., Tulsa; his cousin, Miss Florence O. Wilson, 301 NE 17, and six grandchildren.

     George Wesley Harn was born on 10 May 1850 at Carmichaels, Greene Co., Pennsylvania.^1,2 He was the son of Thornton Fleming Harn and Martha Anne Cumpston. George Wesley Harn married Alice Elenor Crowch between 25 December 1870 and 1879.

     Gerald Lewis Harn was born on 9 October 1929 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota. He was the son of Oscar Cecil Harn and Delta Ann Perkins. Gerald Lewis Harn married Mary Lou McCarthy, daughter of William Charles McCarthy and Katherine Rose Sklenar, on 15 April 1955 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota. Gerald Lewis Harn died on 10 July 1959 at French Lake, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota, at age 29.¹ He was buried on 13 July 1959 at Calvary Cemetery, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.

His Social Security Number was 470-30-7408.¹ He lived in June 1959 at 324 NW 7th Ave., Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.¹ The cause of death was 12-ga shotgun wound of head caused death instantly.¹ Jerry was born at the Cedar Lake Farm, outside of Faribault. He lived in Faribault in 1941, when his father died.
Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Army Ready Reserves on 08 Jan 1951 and 08 Jan 1954. Jerry received an Honorable Discharge on 07 May 1954 and 16 May 1956 as an SP3 (Specialist 3rd Class), number ER1-731-2313.
Jerry was making about 5000-6000 dollars a year as a cabinet maker in the 1950's. He had been brought up a Methodist, and then converted to Catholic when he married Mary Lou. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and working on old cars.

     Gerald R. Harn was born on 5 September 1912 at Luzerne Twsp., Fayette Co., West Virginia.² He was the son of Aden Green Harn and Martha Ellen Huey. Gerald R. Harn died on 23 June 1925 at age 12.²
     He appeared on the census of 20 January 1920 at Luzerne Twsp., Fayette Co., Pennsylvania; The 1920 Census lists Gerald Harn as 7 years old, born in Pennsylvania, enumerated with parents and three siblings. Grafton Duval Harn married Mary Anne Reese, daughter of Phillip Reese and Mary Yost, on 15 September 1857.^1,2 Grafton Duval Harn died on 1 September 1907 at Montgomery, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at age 74.^4,2 He was buried on 3 September 1907 at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio.⁵

     Graydon Miller Harn was the son of Alvin Miller Harn and Elmira Myra Pine.¹ Graydon Miller Harn married Hannah Wood.¹

     Greenbury Harn was born between 1773 and 1775 at Maryland.^2,3 He was the son of John (I) Harn and Dorcas (Darcus) Davis. Greenbury Harn married Sarah Grimes on 13 June 1797.³ Greenbury Harn died after 1830.
     E.B. HARN believes Greenbury could be part of her line. Barbara Covey has Greenbury Hearn(?) married Sarah Grimes 13Jun1797, in Frederick, Maryland. He appeared on the census of 1800 at Libertytown, Frederick Co., Maryland. Went to Penn. about 1800 with Johnzee and nephew Thomas S. Harn.³ He appeared on the census of 1820 at Fayette Co., Pennsylvania.
