Carole Bongers 1945-2009

FARIBAULT — Carole (Mrs. Tony) Bongers, age 64, of Faribault, died on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at her home.

Memorial services were postponed and will be held Thursday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, with Chris Sorensen, pastoral minister of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Faribault, officiating. Interment will be held at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

A memorial visitation will be held in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and also for one hour prior to the Thursday services.

Carole, the daughter of David M. and Celia (Stasney) Harn, was born on Sept. 20, 1945, in Faribault. She married Tony Bongers on Aug. 28, 1965, in Faribault. She loved the country and was known for her exotic animal farm. She is survived by her husband, Tony; four children, Traci (and Mark) Thieding of Lonsdale, Chris, Troy and Tammie Bongers, all of Faribault; six grandchildren, Lexa, Holly, Lucan and Shiloh Bongers, Alexander and Maximilian Thieding; two siblings, Robert and Larry Harn, both of Faribault; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her parents-in-law, Henry and Josephine Bongers.¹

     Carroll Duval Harn was born on 21 December 1865 at Fort Bend Co., Texas.¹ He was the son of Carroll Prather Duval Harn and Sarah Elizabeth Mills. Carroll Duval Harn married Mary Whorton Cole on 15 March 1894 at Virginia. Carroll Duval Harn died on 19 June 1911 at Earlboro, Pottawatomie Co., Oklahoma, at age 45.

     Carroll Prather Duval Harn was born circa 1841 at Hagerstown, Frederick Co., Maryland.^1,2 He was the son of Levi Orendorf Harn and Zerua Ann Duval. Carroll Prather Duval Harn married Sarah Elizabeth Mills, daughter of William R. Mills and Elizabeth Vaughn, on 15 March 1865 at Stanardsville, Greene Co., Virginia. Carroll Prather Duval Harn died on 17 October 1876 at Navasota, Grimes Co., Texas.³
     He appeared on the census of 16 July 1850 at Hagerstown, Washington Co., Maryland;

lists L.O. Harn 40 years old, Zerua Harn 40 years old, Carroll Harn 7 years old, Majar(?) 3 years old.

HARN, CARROLL PRATHER DUVAL (1841-1876). C. Duval Harn, Civil War veteran and statesman, was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, in 1841, to Levi Ordendorf and Zerue Harn. Harn was educated in Maryland and served as a sailor before enlisting as a staff officer in the Confederate Army.
From 1860-1863, he fought under General J.E.B. Stuart. While acting as a scout, Harn was taken prisoner and later released near the end of the war as part of an exchange. On March 15, 1865, he married Sarah E. Mills in Stanardsville, Virginia. The couple settled in Texas and had two children. Their son Carroll Duval Harn was born on December 21, 1865, in Fort Bend, Texas. Two years later, their daughter Elizabeth M. Harn was born on November 20, in Gordonsville, Virginia. In 1869, Harn acted as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention on behalf of Grimes, Madison, and Walker Counties. He was elected to the Twelfth Texas Legislature in 1870, representing Grimes County. Harn died in Navasota on October 17, 1876, of complications caused by typhoid fever.

Miss Lottie Harn, daughter of Mrs. E. L. Harn, died yesterday afternoon at her home on South Park street, of consumption, aged eighteen years. She had been ailing for several years, and her death was not unexpected. She was a young lady possessed of those qualities which constitute a model woman and her kindly disposition and ways had made her the center of a circle comprising all who knew who and none will more deeply mourn her death in the very morning of her life than those who know her best.
