     Arvard B. Rupel was born on 7 July 1859 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹ He was the son of Jacob Ruple and Sarah Henry. Arvard B. Rupel married Anna Zahrt, daughter of William Zahrt and female (?), on 12 April 1880.¹ Arvard B. Rupel died on 28 January 1932 at Los Angeles, California, at age 72; Infor per Valpo Newspaper obituary on 05Feb1932. He was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Los Angeles, California; Infor per Valpo Newspaper obituary on 05Feb1932.

He lived in 1880 at Walkerton, Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.

A.B. Rupel, harness-maker, etc., Walkerton, Ind., was born in this county July 7, 1859, son of Jacob and Sarah Rupel, natives of Ohio. He was married April 12, 1880, to Anna Zahrt, daughter of Wm. Zahrt, who was a native of La Porte county. Mr. Rupel opened his harness shop in Walkerton in 1878, and has since continued his business. He appeared on the census of June 1880 at Walkerton, Saint Joseph Co., Indiana; The 1880 Indiana Federal Census lists Arvad B. Rupel as 21 years old, born in Indiana, harness maker, married to Annie who was 19 years old and born in Indiana. He appeared on the census of 6 June 1900 at Hyde Park Twsp., Cook Co., Illinois; The 1900 Illinois Federal Census lists Arvad Rupel as born July 1859 in Indiana, married when 20-years old; wife Anna born Sept 1861 in Indiana, 3 of her 4 children still living; daughter Mabelle born Feb 1891 in Indiana, daughter Glenn born Aug 1885, and daughter Maribel born July 1895 in Illinois. He appeared on the census of 2 January 1920 at Ward 14, Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois; The 1920 Illinois Federal Census lists Arvad Rupel as 61-years old, born in Indiana; wife Anna E., 59-years old, born in Indiana.

     Awilda Rupel was born circa December 1848 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of Ephraim Rupel and Susannah Stull. Awilda Rupel married Jason J. Damon on 22 November 1865 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹

     Barbara Rupel was born on 1 December 1806 at Pennsylvania.² She married Howard Huntsman. Barbara Rupel was the daughter of Jacob Rupel and Ann Livengood. Barbara Rupel died on 1 May 1873 at La Porte Co., Indiana, at age 66.²
     Her married name was Huntsman. Barbara and Howard had seven children. John Coleman lists Barbara's spouse as Howell Huntsman.

     Bazil Rupel was born on 29 January 1833 at Indiana.^1,2 He was the son of Peter Rupel and Christina (Nancy) Shumaker. Bazil Rupel married Sara Jane Brunson, daughter of George W. Bronson and Mary Calkins, on 25 May 1854 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹ Bazil Rupel died on 30 July 1909 at age 76.²
     The History of St. Joseph County, Indiana, 1880, page 674, had following:
Bazel Rupel, son of Peter and Christina Rupel, of this county, was born Jan. 29, 1833. He was married May 25, 1854, to Sarah J. Bronson, of this tp. (township). Her parents are George W. and Mary (Corcons) Bronson. They had 3 children, James T., born Oct. 20, 1855; M.L., born Oct. 3, 1857; and N.I., born Oct. 15, 1864. Mrs. Rupel was born Dec. 6, 1838. They are worthy members Pleasant Grove Grange, No. 1550. Mr. R. is a Democrat. He received his education in the common schools of the county. Was at Pike's Peak in 1860. Owns 50 acres of land.
Mrs. Rupel's mother, nee Mary Calkins, was born in Jamestown, N.Y., June 21, 1818, and her father, Caleb Calkins, was born in Vermont, Aug. 27, 1790, and her mother, nee Susan Beardsley, was born in Rhode Island, Nov. 27, 1790; they were married in 1812. Geo. W. Bronson was born in Wayne county, O., Aug. 25, 1814, and was married in 1835, in Cass county, Mich. Mr. Bronson's mother, nee Nancy Cathcart, was born in New Jersey March 6, 1786, and his father, Reuben Bronson, was born in Vermont Sept. 7, 1781; the two latter were married in 1804. Mr. R's P.O. is South Bend.

     Bessie Rupel was born circa March 1888 at Michigan.¹ She was the daughter of Elias H. Rupel and Molly Barrett.

     Blanche Rupel was born circa December 1884 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of Isaac Rupel and Susan Fisher.

     Charles Rupel was born on 8 January 1865 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹ He was the son of Franklin Rupel and Martha Jane Rockhill. Charles Rupel married Clara Stickler on 8 February 1898.¹ Charles Rupel died on 25 February 1944 at age 79.¹ He was buried at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, Greene Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.²

     Clarissa Rupel was born circa May 1855 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of Elisha H. Rupel and Jane Vanderhoof.

     Daniel Rupel was born circa 1847.² She was the daughter of Samuel Rupel and Elinor Chord.

     David Rupel was born on 30 June 1811 at Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.² He was the son of Jacob Rupel and Ann Livengood. David Rupel married Sarah Melling, daughter of Andrew Melling (Meller) and Margaret (?), on 10 January 1836.² David Rupel died on 24 January 1894 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 82.²
     David and Nancy were twins.

The History of St. Joseph County, Indiana, 1880, page 729-730, had following:
David Rupel, second permanent settler in Liberty tp. (township), was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, July 31, 1811; his parents, Jacob and Ann Rupel, were natives of Germany, and came to America at a very early day. In 1830 he came to Elkhart county, and remained during the winter. The following spring he came to this county and located near South Bend; at that time there were but two houses in the place, and they were occupied by Taylor and Coquillard, or Cutteau, as he was known, who had a trading post with the Indians at that place. In the summer of 1832 the settlers built the court-house; the material consisted chiefly of brick; in May, 1836, he moved to Liberty tp.
He was married Jan. 10, 1836, to Sarah Meller, daughter of Andrew and Margaret Meller, natives of Ohio. This union was blest with 6 children, 5 of whom are living, viz.: Dennis W., Andrew M., Margaret J., (now wife of J.W. Jones), Melinda C. (wife of David H. Weaver) and Mary E. (wife of Jonathan M. Cripe). Mrs. Rupel died Feb. 21, 1875, aged 58 years.

     Dennis W. Rupel was born circa November 1839 at Indiana.¹ He was the son of David Rupel and Sarah Melling. Dennis W. Rupel married Mary O'Conner on 30 April 1862 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹

     Diantha Rupel was born circa May 1861 at Indiana.¹ Diantha Rupel was the child of Hiram Rupel and Laura Treadwell.

     Edith Rupel was born on 9 May 1878.¹ She was the daughter of Franklin Rupel and Martha Jane Rockhill. Edith Rupel married Harrison Kirkley on 16 October 1907.¹ Edith Rupel died on 29 December 1969 at age 91.¹
     Her married name was Kirkley. Edith and Harrison had three children. Sketches of my kith and kin, 1966, by Helen Walz Maxwell. Edith and Harrison married at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church.

     Edward Rupel was the son of Hiram Rupel and Laura Treadwell.

     Elias H. Rupel was born on 23 February 1835 at Centre Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.^1,2 He was the son of Peter Rupel and Christina (Nancy) Shumaker. Elias H. Rupel married Molly Barrett on 29 January 1885.¹ Elias H. Rupel died circa April 1927.² He was buried at Bowman Cemetery, Portage Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹
     Jim Coleman lists Elias death date as 09 Feb 1928. Jim Coleman lists Elias's wife as Mary Barrett.

     Elisha H. Rupel was born on 29 October 1827 at Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.^1,2 He was the son of Peter Rupel and Christina (Nancy) Shumaker. Elisha H. Rupel married Jane Vanderhoof, daughter of Jules Vanderhoof and Catherine (?), on 25 November 1853.¹ Elisha H. Rupel died on 22 May 1911 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 83.^1,2 He was buried at Bowman Cemetery, Portage Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹

(township) in 1830; was married in 1853 to Jane Vanderhoof, daughter of Jules and Catherine Vanderhoof, of this tp. They have 2 children, Clarissa, born in 1855, and Harrietta, born in 1860. Mr. R. is a Democrat; his first vote was cast for Andrew Jackson. He owns 187 acres of fine land, worth about $100 an acre, in sec. 26.

     Elizabeth Rupel was born circa 1811 at Pennsylvania.² She was the daughter of Jacob Rupel and Ann Livengood. Elizabeth Rupel married Daniel Palmer. Elizabeth Rupel died on 30 January 1874 at Indiana.²
     Her married name was Palmer. Jack D. Ruple lists Elizabeth & Daniel Palmer with 4 kids, unnamed. Jack Coleman lists Elizabeth married to John Ruddick on 01Aug1833. Jack Coleman lists Elizabeth and John Ruddick with 8 children. Jack Coleman lists John Ruddick remarrying in 1878 to Sophia Cook.

     Ephraim Rupel was born on 4 December 1821 at Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of John Rupel and Mary Peck. Ephraim Rupel married Susannah Stull circa April 1847 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹ Ephraim Rupel died on 24 October 1906 at age 84.¹ He was buried at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, Greene Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹

     Ernest Burr Rupel was born on 22 October 1866 at Centre Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.^1,2 He was the son of Franklin Rupel and Martha Jane Rockhill. Ernest Burr Rupel married Hallie Smith on 14 December 1893.² Ernest Burr Rupel died on 11 September 1945 at age 78.² He was buried at Bowman Cemetery, Portage Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹

     Franklin Rupel was born on 23 May 1837 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.^1,2 He was the son of Peter Rupel and Christina (Nancy) Shumaker. Franklin Rupel married Martha Jane Rockhill on 26 November 1863 at Portage Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.² Franklin Rupel died on 9 August 1908 at age 71.²

     Glenn Rupel was born in August 1885 at Indiana. She was the daughter of Arvard B. Rupel and Anna Zahrt.
     Glenn Rupel appeared on the census of 6 June 1900 at Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois; The 1900 Illinois Federal Census lists Arvad Rupel as born July 1859 in Indiana, married when 20-years old; wife Anna born Sept 1861 in Indiana, 3 of her 4 children still living; daughter Mabelle born Feb 1891 in Indiana, daughter Glenn born Aug 1885, and daughter Maribel born July 1895 in Illinois.

     Helen Rupel was born at Indiana.¹ She married C.A. Perkins. Helen Rupel was the daughter of Isaac Rupel and Susan Fisher.
     Her married name was Perkins. Helen had one daughter.

The History of St. Joseph County, Indiana, 1880, page 674, had following:
Hiram Rupel, living on sec. 26, was born in Elkhart county, in September, 1830; his parents, Peter and Christina (Shumal) Rupel, were natives of Pennsylvania. Mr. Rupel was married in 1854 to Laura Creedvell, formerly of New York State. They have 3 children, Dicintha, Oscar William and Louis Edyker. Mr. Rupel is a farmer and has a beautiful and well tilled farm of 26 2/8 acres, valued at $100 per acre; P.O., South Bend.

     Isaac Rupel was born on 25 February 1843 at Indiana.¹ He was the son of Samuel Rupel and Elinor Chord. Isaac Rupel married Susan Fisher on 15 November 1883 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.¹ Isaac Rupel died on 7 August 1910 at age 67.¹

     Jacob Rupel was born between 1794 and 1795 at Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Jacob Rupel and Ann Livengood. Jacob Rupel married Catherine Griffith. Jacob Rupel died circa 1839 at Elkhart Co., Indiana.¹

1839 Administration of Jacob Rupel, Elkhart Co., wife Catherine appointed guardian of Rachel. Mary Rupel received $200 Oct 4, 1845, Isaih Rush and Sarah received share April 24, 1844, Jeremiah received share April 3, 1844, Levi Longley signed for Benjamin. Jereimah Rupel and Andrew, Mary Longley sued Sarah and Rachel for division of land in Baugo twps., Elkhart Co., Indiana.
